An ever-changing list…
Tomato Gorgonzola Soup
I tried this soup in the thick of winter, and even as things begin to thaw, I can’t stop making it. For a healthier option, thin with extra tomato juice. Delicious.
Whirley-Pop Popcorn Maker
I eat a lot of popcorn. I know it’s not the healthiest choice, but—yum. Anyway, after all those reports about all the scary stuff in microwave popcorn, I decided it was time to go back to basics. I love this never-fail popcorn maker. Set to the right heat, I’ve never burned a batch and rarely have more than a few un-popped kernels.
Geeky Bed Sheet
We bought these sheets for our son. While I can’t rave about the thread count, I adore the fun illustrations. And really, how often do you find sheets for kids that prominently feature bacon as a character?
Nothing Ever Happens on My Block
Poor Chester—nothing ever happens on his block. You know, except all the amazing events going on behind him while he complains. I remember spending ages poring over the pages of this book, noticing even more details in the intricate drawings. Sadly, it’s no longer in print, but available used in many places. Nice images of the book here.
“Pea” by Rabbit
This song makes me smile every single time I listen to it. (via Pacing the Panic Room)
Powers of Ten
I had forgotten about this amazing film until I tried to explain to my kids about the immensity of the Earth and beyond. Such a fantastic film, even 35 years after it was made.
Mini Lunch Notes
Little tiny notes to pack in the lunch boxes of your little people.
Mast Brothers Chocolate
Bearded men with design sense who make chocolate. There’s so much good here. (via Honest Fare)
Minted
Oh-so-pretty printed goods. This could possibly pull me away from my beloved iPhoto calendar. (via Justin Hackworth)
Backyard Chickens
I mostly use this site for their fantastic forum and the reassurances that my chickens aren’t going to turn into popsicles when it dips below 30°. Or that molting is a perfectly normal process, but also somewhat horrifying to see. They also offer a great section of coop inspiration.
Tara Whitney
An insanely talented photographer who I want to have coffee with. Currently mulling over just the right pitch to convince her to come photograph my family on a picturesque farm in the midwest.
Knitting Help
I’m a beginning knitter. I’m entirely self-taught via online tutorials, and am proud to announce that I can now cast on without watching the tutorial. Yay, me! I love the tutorials on this site, and adore that it’s pleasant to look at.
Barn Light Electric
Where was this company when we were building our house? Oy! Still…we really need a light for over the kitchen table. Hmmmm. (via SouleMama)
Hello Hanna Wishing Tree
I love this idea. I plan to put it on our dining room table and let the kids help make wishes. (via Bloesom Kids)
My Montessori Journey
A never-ending stream of fantastic ideas for your home or classroom. Wheeee—pounding nails into logs! My kids could do this kind of stuff for hours.
airbnb
Finally! A fantastic collection of travel options that are easy on the eye. When we travel with the kids, an apartment is far more economical and efficient than a hotel room. (via swissmiss)
The Crafty Crow
Rainy day? Snow day? This is a fantastic collection of ideas culled from the blogosphere. Certainly there is an idea here for everyone.
Cannelle et Vanille
I’m not sure which I like better, her food or her photography. Yum.
